This qualitative multiple case study examined the life experiences of the gay or lesbian educator in light of civil rights legislation that continues to influence our lives. Tenured educators were interviewed regarding their lived experiences early in life, during their education and growth in the profession, and currently as educators. The research used reputational snow ball sampling to discover these educators.
The past year was one of tremendous progress toward gay and lesbian equality—perhaps the most important year for gay rights, as some have already claimed, since the Stonewall rebellion, in The many milestones of the past twelve months looked, at times, like a revolution that had transpired overnight, but they represented the culmination of work that took place over decades and came together in one remarkable year. Still, there were a number of key individuals who played important roles in ; heroes, who by their words or actions stood out as worthy of particular recognition.
After his death, his parents Jeff and Lori became staunch gay rights activists, protesting antigay marriage laws in their native Minnesota as well as speaking out for the rights of LGBT people in various news sources. Since marriage equality was passed in Minnesota init looks like they got their wish, and one could only hope that the loss of this gay American hero helped to advance the rights of the citizens of his home state. You know, because we told you so.
Every great social movement has its heroes. But when it comes to queer history, almost no one knows their names. Minus those who live in the great state of California or are home-schooled by lesbian moms, the majority of students just aren't taught LBGTQ history.

Due to social and official discrimination, though, most of their stories have gone untold. Baron Friedrich von Steuben, a Prussian military man hired by George Washington to whip the Continental Army into shape during the darkest days of the Revolutionary Waris known for his bravery and the discipline and grit he brought to the American troops.
I take more energy from that than from trying to prove anyone wrong. But for me, to be gay and fabulous, during Pride month at the World Cup, is nice. When you have out athletes doing that while wearing the Team USA colors, Americans naturally cheer for these athletes.
